Renewing golf grips

I like the Golf Pride Velvet Tour grips but they seem to get slick pretty fast. Anyone have advice on how to extend the life of their golf grips?

Wash your hands right before playing. (I'm not being condescending - it
really helps)

I'm not sure sandpaper is the best of ideas. The grips by design are
slightly sticky and easily pick up dirt. Use soap and water to remove
the layer of grime.

Tour Velvets have a raw finish, it's the Tour Wrap that has the smooth
finish. The sandpaper followed by a dish soap cleaning should work very
well on the Velvets.

My note about the hand washing is more of an everyday thing that improves
grip on the club and makes the grips last longer.

Just put a piece of duct tape or something to plug the hole in the end of
the grip. Any water that gets in there has a tendency to rust the end of
the shaft.
