Nobody's that dumb. My guess is that he his own interests (and even his job) says that he's better off as a racist, playing the race card, lying and trolling. It works - he has gotten people here to listen to his web-cast, and he has evidence to show supporters.
On the other hand, racists have to live with knowing what they are, and that's an awfully high price to pay for viewers. Especially if we follow Pogo's famous line "we have met the enemy and he is us".
What could be sadder than to emulate a hated enemy (without being converted to that enemy's cause)?
