After my latest round at Peace Portal here in Vancouver, I realized that I have birdied the second hole in each of my last four rounds. It's 360 yards, straight, tree-lined with a gully about 220 out. I usually hit 3-iron, then 7 or 8-iron. On three occasions I had no right to make bird. Two chip-ins from at least 40 feet and a 50 foot putt have to be classified as flukes. The other time I holed a 15 footer. For some strange reason I can do no wrong on this hole. Anyone else with similar experiences?

I must inform you that you've upset Them, i.e. the golf gods. I predict double digits your next time around. Happens to me every time I think I've got my swing, putting stroke, or hole figured out.
Yes, I did. I "owned" the 8th hole at my home course one year. A short par 5, I once went six under on that hole in five rounds despite having a 12 handicap. My approach shots were with everything from a 7-wood to a 7 iron.
It's like a run of cards or other experiences of being "in the zone." Ride the wave while it's there and enjoy it, because it'll always come to an end and leave you the mortal you were before.

I have an opposite problem which I suspect is fairly common. Specifically, I have a hole I just cannot figure out. It is a par 5 sharp dogleg right. If you
drive too far you go into water. Not far enough, you don't have good angle. Trying to cut the dogleg for me doesn't work. The water then stays in play to the left the rest of the hole. I have tried numerous ways of playing that hole but the result is almost always bad. It isn't particularly long - 472 yards from the tees I play.
Its not like par 5s in general are my doom. At my home course we have 27 holes. On one of the 9s we have 3 par 5s (par 37 for the 9). My last time out I shot bogey on all 3 of those par 5s. Thats pretty good considering my handicap

Yes but there would be no way in hell I would publicly talk about it, much less post about it on RSG. Steve

Bad idea to make this declaration publicly. Surely you must know that by doing so, the golfing gods will prevent you from ever birdieing it again.

My current slump is the result of telling a friend during a round several weeks ago that my game has really come together, and that my driver and putter are (were) currently "on fire". Big mistake.....

14th hole, local muni. Short dogleg par-4, 240-ish over the trees, 260 to the green. You don't have to be straight, since there's not much trouble once you clear the trees. I go for it even when it's playing into the wind. Like last weekend, I got up and down from short of the green and made bird. My stroke average is definitely under par on that hole.
The men go over; the boys go around .
Jinx? What jinx? Does this mean I'm going to skull it into the trees from now on?
There are whole bunch of golf courses that own me.

Absolutely. Work needs to settle down a little first.

Scott,
Sorry but I am fairly sure that in this situation, you need to specifically mention the course and the hole you own. I dont have my ROG with me but I am fairly sure those are the two requirements.

The 4th hole - a 288 yard slightly downhill par-4 at Paradise Knolls, a cheapie course in Riverside, Ca.
Eagle and 3 birdies in 7 or 8 tries, nothing worse than par. The only green I can drive.
