i would guess that the tv ratings for yesterday were as high as any
non-tiger event in recent memory...big JD brings in a lot of the nascar
crowd...nonetheless, i *guarantee* you the networks would do anything to
be assured of a final round just like that every week on tour

I'll bet they were glad Gavin Coles didn't run out to a 6 shot lead on the
front nine. A lot of viewers might have switched over to an NBA playoff
game.

Poor Jeff Maggert. He always melts down when he's got a chance to win. He
was tied for the lead but finished bogey-double bogey to tie for 7th. Gavin
Coles hung tough until that double on 11 where he was hassled by a fan.
Greg Owen tries to tap in from a foot and misses. The announcers had a
field day with that faux pas. Once again, Lanny was wrong about Vijay's
driver strategy vs. JD's 3 wood strategy on 18 during the playoff. Vijay
blows it dead right into the rough and has a shot at the green. JD pulls it
left into the hazard, and it's all over.

BTW - That was some hop and roll that JD's ball took to get into the> lake. With luck like that... don't bother playing the lotto. :)>

The guy hits a hook, the ball bounces right to left as it should and goes in
the water. How in *THE HELL* does that have anything to do with *luck*?!?!?
You've been listening to golf announcers too much.......

I don't think he hit a hook, the angle from the tee made it look like a
hook but I believe it was a straight hit. Even John didn't think he
made the water until the caddy said so.

It was sarcasm - he said if your luck is that bad, don't buty any> lottery tickets.>

Again, it had nothing to do with luck, so why is he mentioning luck at all?
It was a BAD SHOT. Now if the ball hit a sprinkler head and bounced in, or
a sudden gust of wind blew it way off line, then some luck would have been
involved. Maybe Daly should have hit some balls while waiting for Vijay to
finish instead of just hanging around, the bad shot might not have happened
with a little better preparation.......
