Extreme (?) Golf Question

Mary 20 April 2005 20:32:56
Has anyone set up a golf tournament for charity where the players start at a
certain point in an area (city) and golf maybe five or ten miles to a city's
focal point for the tournament? I would think such a tournament would
attract interest from golfers and nongolfers alike.

Thanks

Tom

There would be some logistical problems in doing this safely.

I read a story recently where a guy golfed all the way across
Mongolia.

We live in a country where we will not drop bombs on known enemy targets due
to "collateral damage" concerns.

How are you going to stage a golf tournament that goes through a city with
"Golfers & Non-Golfers alike" hitting projectiles and manage not to injure
or kill anyone?

Have you ever been hit by a golf ball? Or a club?

File this one under no flipping way. My course cracked down on cross
county golf - 14th tee to 5th green - for safety reasons. The city
commission will go absolutely ballistic.

ESPN covered it and asked what was the first thing he was going to do
after finishing.

"Well, I'm a married man."

"OK, what is the second thing?"

"Put down the golf bag."

Yes, that would attract interest from golfers and non-golfers
alike..........Golfers, because they're idiots, and non-golfers because
those same idiots are clogging up traffic with their nonsense.

That was me on the 9th hole at Field's Ferry last October.
