I just went to Roger Dunn to hit a Sonartec NP-99 3 wood as I've heard good things about them both here and from a couple of distant friends that have them. The RD salesguy told me that they don't carry them anymore because they had so many returns from unsatisfied customers. They wouldn't even order me one. According to the Sonartec website a lot of the Pros are using this club and again I have friends that love them. Could it be that because they are on the higher end of the pricing schedule for fairway woods that RD couldn't sell enough of them? I could just buy one online but now I'm concerned about paying $225+ for a club that I haven't hit...Anyone here have bad stories (or good) about this club? Dave

No bad stories at all. I bought one last year, a 15°, and it's great.

No... I've had a 14 degree NP-99 in my bag a about 18 months... I can't miss with it.
That said the NP-99 is not for everyone. I wouldn't buy one if you're high handicapper or mediocre ball striker as they're not the most forgiving fairway woods on the market.
If you're low handicapper (0-15), a good ball striker and can get the ball in the air give the NP-99 a try... You'll like it. If your high handicapper (20+), a mediocre ball striker and have trouble getting the air you'll be better off with something else.
HTH.

Good from me. I have a 14* model with the NV S/X shaft. You may want to see if you can demo one before plunking down the $$$...it might not be the right club for you in terms of playability and forgiveness.

might I ask what you paid for your NP-99? And, I haven't seen any shaft options other than the normal reg, stiff, etc online. Did you have a shaft option when you bought yours? Dave

I have a friend who owns a golf shop, and I picked up the used NP-99 and a few other things in trade for some consulting work. I figured out that I 'paid' about half of retail.
The Sonartec website shows R/S and S/X options in the 75G shaft.
