This is interesting because they give Jones only 7 - his British and US Open wins - and not the usual 13 you usually see in the U.S. press. I think this is the right way to look at it because the Ams of that time (and certainly of the present time) were not majors in any meaningful sense of the term when compared with the Opens of that era, or with the professional majors of this era.
