I play one handed golf with right handed clubs and have been doing so for about two years now.Being on a 33 handicap sort of lets me play with the big boys but my hitting consistency is letting me down. Good T shot, but not very far, good second then can be lousy third, which still leave me short of the green for the fourth. This of course usually ends up at best a six and possibly an eight for a par four.Main problem appears to be in body movement in backswing. Anybody got any ideas on how to dampen body movement, or any useful tips on how to improve my game.

I have a ton of ideas. First, you don't really want to dampen body movement, that's where your distance will come from. You need to control it and get all the parts working together. When you say you don't hit very far, what is that? 150? or 200? You should be able to get 200 yds out of a drive with not too much trouble. You can expect to get more if you practice. You might want to use a 7w instead of a 3 iron, but otherwise the clubs you have, if you have a good swing will be fine.
Take lessons. I have no idea where you are, but there must be a good pro nearby, use them.
Your swing will have only the right arm in it, unless you swing across your body because you are left handed (but from your post I didn't get that you were left handed), but don't despair, you can play with the big boys and get your handicap down into the 15 - 18 range without too much trouble. (By the way, the secret to a lower handicap is in the short game, after a certain amount of distance is gained).
If you can get close to the green in two (close being 50 yds, or so) and you have a sufficiently good short game, you can score par or better more than not.
If you are anywhere near Oregon, let me know, I'd be glad to help. I have considerable experience in this area. After two years of sorta golfing, my handicap is up to 19 again, but it was as low as 18. (and as high as, well...never mind).
I can drive the ball reasonably well, and to about 250 yards with roll, I hit my 7 iron about 140 - 145, and I can par any hole on our course if I don't try to kill the ball.
Birdies aren't as frequent, but they aren't rare either.

I wish I could seriously golf as well as you sorta golf.

Jim: take Rick up on his offer. And get him to teach you the bullwhip>flop shot He's so right about the short game being the key to>scoring...>
Oh, and Rick, just so you know: the next time we play, we're having a>one-handed short game contest. I've been working on it this winter>and you're meat, pal.>
I'm easy prey just now. Been focusing on a remodel project since Oct/Nov and haven't done a thing, really, golf wise. However, (there's always a however) I expect to be back in form, and perhaps a bit improved, by RSG-Wisc. Focus on short game again, the scoring shots. Hmmm, I won't quit until I chip in all ten balls from this deep rough.
Todd - unless we're pitching or sand shots or anything other than>chipping and putting >
Now, this is exactly where I would go. Although my sand game is rusty, I do have a decided advantage here, because it is NOT all feel.

Peter, You would kill me now. You would have to give me strokes, I'd insist. I have done zero golf wise since Oct/Nov and the kitchen remodel process started. Hopefully it will be complete by Friday, but I bet it will be another week. At any rate, the future is bright for my ability to get to the course to practice, play, and practice some more. Add to that a few lessons from my favorite instructor, Ms. Julie Miller of taught by and mentored by Mr. Ben Hogan hisownself, and I hope to be at the top of my game by June...oh, what's the date again? 23rd? Something like that. In any event, I'll at least have a passable game to take to Wisc with me.
Now? I'm not sure I know which end of the club to use.

You are longer with one arm than I am with two.>You are somewhat dead to me.>
-Annika ----> can still outdrive Jack Newton
From what I've heard, I'm not.
But thanks.
And remember, that's with roll. Here, we get soft landings frequently.
