Does lengthing the shaft of a driver help get extra distance? im having
big time problems getting any distance off the tee ..was thinking about
maybe adding an inch to the shaft ..could that possibly help??

Everything else being equal......... adding an inch will provide extra
distance.

However, the loss of control should be kept in mind also.

Proper shaft flex and swing mechanics should be looked at first before you
add length to your driver.

I find that I actually get MORE distance if I take a very easy swing and
LESS distance if I try and swing hard at the ball. It is the proper release
of the club thru the hitting area that generates distance. Not the length of
the club.

The only thing that can help a 'big time problem' is a change in swing
fundamentals. Consider taking a lesson, not for the purpose of adding
distance, but to improve your fundamentals. Distance will come later.

It can. People who enter long drive contests have slightly longer clubs than
people who play golf. Trouble is, even they need some accuracy, and longer
clubs are harder to hit well.

What works better is taking a lesson to find out why you're hitting short.

Theoretically, a longer shaft will add distance. But more than likely
the problem is in your swing. Better ball contact and a more efficient
swing is the best way to add distance. Lessons are probably the best way
to acheive that.

How far do you hit the driver, and how far do you think you should hit it?
