Yesterday was my first round or the year in Grand Rapids, Joe. It seemed a bit odd to play in short sleeves with snow lingering in the bunkers and the ponds still frozen. Some guys were playing in shorts. I can't remember a colder March in Michigan. Maybe yesterday broke the spell, but I won't be surprised if we get a couple of "Alberta Clippers" in April.

Didn't reach 70 on this side - about 64*F - but boy was it nice!! Played my first round too and it was great to get out, No traces of snow on the course and it was in surprisingly good condition for the time of year - greens were very smooth indeed. The course opened yesterday morning around 10am and I teed off at 11.

Even warmer today in S.E. Michigan.>
I need a job where I can play at 11am!!
The downside was I went to work at 5pm and didn't get home until 4am this morning - so there is a downside to everything....
I was looking at averages in March, and through the 23, we only had 2> days that the highs were ABOVE average temp, and many of the days were> double digit below average.
Agreed - been a bloody cold 'spring'. It's better than last year, though. If you remember it was cool with rain, rain, and more rain right through April. I only was able to play once at the end of April before I went to Scotland with the guys - not exactly great preparation!!

Dang... Makes me glad I live in Northern California... We hit 70 for the first time at the end of January, though I haven't had a chance to golf yet.

Good stuff, David. We're still awfully soggy up the 401 in London, so I'm looking at hitting balls off mats at a range on Friday as my first action of the year. It will be nice to play a bit for once.

Yea, did same here in Minnesota. But today it's 50 degrees and windy as hell. No joy.>

Good for you, David. I'm jealous! The good news here...the snow doesn't look as deep today.

50* and 40 mph winds here in SE Michigan. But the course opened early and I played 9 holes at lunchtime anyway.
