Between the weather, the "lift, clean, and cheat" rule, the waiting for the rain to stop, the 17th hole, the 18th hole .......
As a test of golf ... NOPE.
As an interesting lucky break tournament ... YUP.
Take the 17th hole. If you just happen to hit it early in the day, no wind. Not bad ... But, hit that same hole with the wind blowing and it is a fluke whether your ball lands on and stays on the green.
This is not a test of golf skill, it is luck. Pure luck.
No wonder the big boys could not get out of there fast enough.
I want to watch a golf tournament not some gimmick course.

No matter what the conditions, that course is a helluva test of golf. Have you ever played it?

That happens at a lot of tournaments...especially this year. Changes in weather during a round have always been a factor in tournaments.>

Funk was #1 in driving accuracy and greens-in-regulation, and last in driving distance for the week. Heh-low! You're just pissed 'cause some guy who's almost 49 won while Tiger, Phil, and Ernie were trying to break par from the rough.
Vijay actually had a chance until the three putt double at 15. Not bad for someone who had a quad on his card with two balls in the water (18th hole in the 2nd round?).
I love watching the pros play in these conditions every once in awhile. It further shows just how good they are (there were some under par scores with that combination of rough and 3 club winds) and you also get to see them hit a few shots that you might be more apt to see me hit on a regular basis!
Hint: All golf tourneys contain elements of luck....this one especially, regardless of the wind/rain. But a great deal of patience and not throwing in the towel (like Tiger and Phil appeared to do towards the end of round 3) was the intangible reason why Funk prevailed and was able to overcome the subjectivity of luck. -- Scott D. If he had done that (quad) on Monday, people would have been yelling "choke". But stuff happens without regard to the calendar.
