I played years ago, but stopped completely about 10 years ago for various reasons. Anyway, it's time for me to start playing again.
What sort of clubs should I buy for my first set? Should I just get some cheap crap (like one of those cheap complete sets) until I get my swing back again? Or, should I get some "decent" clubs that will last me for awhile?
What are your thoughts on clubs and/or sets for beginners/newbie's?

There are many shops, driving ranges, pro shops, etc. that sell used sets of clubs and demo sets of clubs at significantly reduced prices.
I would opt in that direction. Get a better set at a reduced price.
I would also suggest getting cavity back irons (with perimeter weighting). Easier to hit (more forgiving) than blades (unless you really want to get serious about working on your swing, to take advantage of the blades).
Go to a place that sells used/demo clubs and have the guys there look at your swing and work with you.
