Wal-Mart has stores in China.
So you don't think the stuff you buy at the higher priced stores comes from China also? You are a fool if you believe that..

My first really big driver was a 460cc Knight Extreme bought a Walmart in Nebraska for under $30 on sale. Worked fine at the time - a real boomer. Don't knock it until ... You know what I mean... There is an awful lot of pride appeal about knocking mass merchants and the 'common folk' ...
That said, Wally World has killed more small towns than drought and urban sprawl combined. They can rot as far as I'm concerned, from a sociologic view.

I have been in a lot small towns, and the downtown merchants all died long before Walmat came around, the first time they built a mall on the outside of town,
I never realized how stupid those Wal-Mart guys are building all those stores in dying small towns.

Then the town will really die.
As you travel about, when you visit a rich town, you will not see any Walmarts in these towns. Nope, no Walmarts on Martha's Vineyard, Nantuckett, etc.
Walmart == junk. That is as simple as it gets. JUNK.
They hate unions, pay their help slave wages, and sell JUNK.
Look what happened up in Canada when the employees voted to be represented by a union; Walmart closed the store.
The "Beautiful People" don't shop at Walmart. They know that JUNK is JUNK.

Not to mention the low wages M&P's would pay. And the benefits WalMart offers vs. M&P. Our town voted out a new Lowe's that would have employed 225, vs 3 very small hardware stores. Just last week I visited the 3 small hardware stores for a simple item: box cutter blades. Not one of them had them in stock. So I had to drive to the nearest Lowe's or Home Depot. Same for all the contractors in our area. Off to Lowe's! If anything, I live in a boom town where M&P's just don't keep up with the supply and demand.
Forgot to mention that WallyWorld sells golf items.

The so called "beautiful people" will also pay in excess of $600 for a pair of $30 shoes........Wal-Mart is a success because "common folk" want reasonably priced items, no matter what country they come from. BTW, having spent some of my youth in the garment industry, I can say for certain that "labels" don't always mean what people think they mean.......
It's not how many times we have tried and failed that matter, but whether we tried at all. TOM G

And they do drive the extra 20 miles rather than shop at the old stores. Or in New Mexico, they drive the 80 miles to the next town.

There's one in Beaver Creek. The difference is, the rich people don't live at Beaver Creek except during ski season. The people who clean their houses live there all year round, so they're the ones who vote. Rich people don't want to see the poor folk and try to vote to keep them living 30 miles away - along with their stores.

They shop at Neiman Marcus and don't understand why the servants don't do the same thing.

Do the sales clerks who work in those expensive boutiques belong to unions?
