Thailand Golf

The Pastor of RSG 2 March 2005 21:12:09
Thinking about a trip to Thailand this August. Have done a lot of surfing
on the web, and absolutely amazed at the quality of the courses there and
the price. And five star hotels at Holiday Inn prices. Sounds like a great
trip in the making. Will probably spend 5 days in Bangkok and then several
in Chang Mai. And maybe a 2-3 day layover in Seoul.

A few questions. And please chime in Dave Clary, as I am aware you know the
country well.

1. What is the climate like in August. I see this is the beginning of the
rainy season.

2. Recommended courses?

3. Recommended sightseeing attractions. There are so many to choose

Thanks

I'd say that you should instead hang a right and play in Tibet
with the Dalai Lama, except of course that he's not home anymore.

Big hitter, the Lama.

LOL

In all seriousness though, the golf in this place is world class. Amazed at
how many courses there are by Palmer, Trent Jones, Dye, Faldo, Norman, etc.
When you factor in the flight, lodging, and golf, it is cheaper, much
cheaper, than a trip to a top tier resort in the US, like Pinehurst, Doral,
or Whistling Straights. And as an added bonus, you get the culture and the
best dang food anywhere, at least in my opinion.!

Or just leave the clubs at home and enjoy a beautiful country and
people.

Don't forget the food.

But far be it from me to cast stones at anyone for wanting to
take his clubs someplace. I have no room to talk on that deal.

Just finished booking the trip. Will be there eight days. Will probably
only play golf once or twice. You are right, it is a beautiful country from
all I have heard and there will be a lot to see and do

I understand that some of the course have very young female caddies.
For an extra sawbuck you can take them home with you.
A true golfer's paradise!

Going on holiday to Thailand and hoping to get a few rounds in while their.
Does anybody know the scene well over there. Hoping we can hire our clubs
over there and get some dirt cheap golf at a reasonable course.

It's been awhile since my trip so my information is dated and conditions change
but take a look at my write-up of my 2001 trip:

Meanwhile this is a pretty good site for getting descriptions and up-to-date
review from people who have actually played the courses:
