Break the 50% mark for GIR on a regular basis. I often hit 10 out of 14 fairways per round, but rarely 9 out of 18 greens. This is the one thing that prevents me from shooting in the 70's regularly.
Play with some RSGers that I haven't had the pleasure of meeting yet. Like you, Rod.

I'm just getting back into golf this year after a roughly 20 year layoff from the last time I was a member of a club. I have played only very occasionally, socially since. My immediate goals:
1. Get a handicap lower than the max when the season starts at my club. 2. Then break 50 for 9. 3. Then break 100.
My best 9 hole score since coming back was a legit 53.
I've got a lesson scheduled for this Friday morning but the snow may keep the course shut 8(.
I am in the low 80's with a few clean 80s under my belt, yet can't close the deal on 79 or better. This is the year I break 80. No more 3 putts. Improve my GIR and Up & Down stats. PLAY MORE!!

1) To walk 18 as often as possible 2) To buy a new set of irons (Callaway X-18s?) 3) To win my Club's match play event 4) To compete in at least one interclub tournament 5) To maintain or improve slightly my single-digit handicap, realizing that real improvement requires far more practice and playing time than I have right now 6) To play as consistently as possible (both number/frequency of rounds and per-round scoring) 7) To play short rounds regularly with my 11-year old son

Goals: 1) Add 10-20 yards per club to the 3/4 length, inside-out swing that got rid of the slice. 2) Successfully (and repeatedly) get rid of the "too early" hip turn on the down swing (a friend at work said I swing like Jim Furyk) http://beauproductions.com/golfswingsws/jimfuryk/
Wish: An "ace" one of these years.

Major goal is just to PLAY this year and get my game back. Last year was a lost season between a triple bypass in February and rib and hernia surgery in November. I had the two hernias in the rib area plus two ribs torn loose before the bypass but they couldn't fix them until I had adequately recovered from it. It's sort of hard to swing well with two floating ribs on your right side. I strapped on a weight lifting belt to hold things in place and did it anyway but all I really accomplished was to screw my swing up. I did shoot my age once, 71 and I'm 72, and had my third ace but those were both flukes, the rest of the time I was only padding my handicap.
My goal is to get my handicap down to 17-something this year. I have got it down to 19.6 after being 33+ 3 years ago.

After watching my scores float all over the place during the last 6 years (something about young kids and time to play/practice) my goal would be to get back to shooting upper 80's-lower 90's on a consistent basis. Stop my handicapp from going up. Start my handicapp going down. Forget about the last bad shot and concentrate on the current shot. Enjoy every minute of every round.
Generally I'd just like to get steadier, more consistent.
I played a round with a 2 or 3 hanicapper last summer who was having a bad ball-striking day. You could tell he had a good swing, but he looked uncomfortable over the ball and was spraying it all over the place. What did he shoot? 72.
After the round he said he knew he wasn't swinging well and his game plan was to be extremely conservative off the tee, just getting it somewhere around the green in regulation and get his par and move on. Which he did, 18 times in a row. He got every chip into makeable putt range, and then made the putt.
That round made a pretty big impression on me. I have no illusions about suddenly becoming a short game wizard, but I'd like to be more mindful about scoring, to be more efficient on the golf course. That's what the game is all about.

Definitely something I need to work on this year. I'm getting better at it but some shots are just so bad that they stick in my mind way too long.
Enjoy every minute of every round.
For the most part I do this...well except when I hit a really stinky shot.. see above. Seriously though I do enjoy being out on a course no matter what. Slow play? who cares if your going to be stuck in a traffic jam this is the place to be. The only thing that really can infringe on my enjoyment is being grouped with aholes and luckily they seem few and far between.

I have the same problem. That's why I'm making it a goal to stop doing that. It can really screw up a fun day!

Enjoy the game for what it is. If I improve a little, OK by me, but don't let any sorts of expectations ruin my enjoyment of the game. I don't know what it is I get in touch with out there, but my only goal is to get in touch as much as I can. Y'all can have the rest of the world.

I'd like to play some rounds at my home course without losing any balls. Haven't done any there yet.
My immediate goal is to get into good enough shape so that I can start the season by carrying 18 holes without my heart hurting the next day. I wouldn't be surprised if I compromise and use my push cart instead.
I feel I'm close to being able to combine a decent distance with a straight drive consistently.
