I'm planning a trip up the coast of OR soon and have never played any courses on the coast north of Bandon. Could someone fill me in on what's available above Bandon/Pacific Dunes? I'm going all the way to around Seaside then over to Portland and back down I5. I'll have my 75 yo Mom with me so carts will be necessary at any courses we play (she's going to hang out while I play Bandon Dunes . Thanks for any information... Dave

Dave, check out Salishan, near Gleneden Beach. Rick Rider might have some info about it. He and I played there, and liked it a lot. I understand (maybe from him, I forget) that they've redone a lot of the course. http://www.salishan.com/

Dave, I played this course, and while it isn't a top-notch track, I had a lot of fun out there. I walked it, and it was a nice hike. They do have carts, of course, so you and your Mom would enjoy it, I think. Best part was, back a few years ago, that it was quite reasonably priced.

One thing I heard about the carts in Bandon is that the caddy must drive it. And you need a doctor's note. (But maybe age is enough of an excuse??)

that's OK, my Mom has just had a knee replaced and can afford a cart and a caddy...and me, well, I love walking Bandon. It's an experience like no other Dave

I know the owner of this course, but don't have much more to offer. I > haven't played it and I think I recall that it is not a typical par 72 > course.>
Now that you mention it.....I just looked it up on ze Web. Men's par 65, women's 72. They must have done a lot up there to expand and pretty up the place, because it was, when we were up there staying at The Inn at Spanish Head, just essentially a big shed with a small proshop and a cart barn, as I remember. Now it's got a health club, too, and boasts the largest indoor driving range in the NW! Wow!
Dave, Somebody already mentioned Sandpines near Florence, but I'll second it. Its a Reece Jones course and well worth trying. If you are coming through Brookings, take a look at Salmon Run--I have been wanting to try it but have'nt made it that far south yet. You can get all the info on the courses mentioned in this thread at: http://www.oregongolf.com/
