 Peter Strauss reported:
Here's the good part: One match was a> 16-yr. old vs. a 17-yr. old. Their> handicap indices are, respectively, +2.7> (that's right!) and 0.9.
The other match was a couple of young> men, maybe late 20's, early 30's: hci's> of +1 and +2.2.

Thanks for the report Peter. Let us know their names so we can watch for
them.

Cheers Lee O.

Ditto. +2.7 index for a 16 year old. Incredible.

Thanks for the report, Peter.

Wonderful report!

I've only played at Harding once. I didn't lose a single ball. However,
unlike
the folks you mentioned above, I chopped the course. ~`8^o

BTW, the finishing hole from the back tees is pretty cool. Lots of
exciting ways to play it.

Some of the marshals today were there as our group finished, and they
were speculating about how the pros will play that hole in October.
My guess is that we'll see people hitting balls way forward of the
bunkers at the elbow of the dogleg. That means, of course, going over
the widest part of the inlet of the lake and then over some trees on
the sloping part of the lateral. The 17-year-old did that
yesterday...played for "the gap." Gutsy play. He just barely cleared
the lateral. And he couldn't do better than halve the hole,
unfortunately, after such a bold play. And he ended up losing it,
actually. Of course, being 1-down might have been part of his
motivation to shoot it in the first place. Like, why not?
A different game, match play. Very different. Fascinating.

It would almost be worth the price of admission just to watch the tour
pros at 18, but I believe I'll settle for seeing it on the tube.
It is one hell of a hole, no doubt about it.

Peter

If only I had the time! I enjoy practicing, but there's never enough
time. :-(

Great report, Peter. :-)
