My guess is that we'll see people hitting balls way forward of the bunkers at the elbow of the dogleg. That means, of course, going over the widest part of the inlet of the lake and then over some trees on the sloping part of the lateral. The 17-year-old did that yesterday...played for "the gap." Gutsy play. He just barely cleared the lateral. And he couldn't do better than halve the hole, unfortunately, after such a bold play. And he ended up losing it, actually. Of course, being 1-down might have been part of his motivation to shoot it in the first place. Like, why not? A different game, match play. Very different. Fascinating. It would almost be worth the price of admission just to watch the tour pros at 18, but I believe I'll settle for seeing it on the tube. It is one hell of a hole, no doubt about it. Peter
