OK. We're talking about two different things here.> My definition of swing speed is the time elapsed> from the instant the clubhead starts the takeaway> to the moment of impact.
I've never been inclined to hold a stop watch over my or someone else's swing. The fact that TOUR pros have faster swing speeds compared to average players does not surprize, but I would also venture the more enlightening figure would be the variance in those speeds. I willing to bet the best ball strikers, you could set a clock by, whereas the mid handicap player probably has a great variance between their fastest and slowest swing. Any observation to that effect?

What is more interesting is to compare the speed and tempo of a pro when he's playing well and when he's playing poorly.

The book would have been better named "Tour Rhythm">> because that is what the 3:1 ratio implies.>
Alan, given this 3:1 ratio, wouldn't you be better off doing your one > second count from 1 to 4 instead of 1 to 5?>
Bob
No. The clubhead starts back on the count of "1" and impact is on the count of "5" giving four intervals; 1-2, 2-3, 3-4, 4-5. Think of it like a fence that has 4 panels supported by 5 posts. o --- o --- o --- o --- o
