My wife will sit down to watch, oh, a half hour of Simpsons at 6:30 and will, if I don't come by and take the remote away from her, be there the rest of the evening, watching *anything* that's on. And we have Dish Network. If I let her, she'd watch until she fell over from sheer exhaustion. When I'm out of town traveling, I have to hide the remotes and lock out particularly dangerous channels (like any channel that shows Law and Order).
So, to make a long story short, if I watch any TV program myself, especially something that comes on late in the evening, I sort of undermine my credibility as "Mr. There Are Other Priorities In Life Besides Television".
It sucks, but it's true.
