My mother purchased a used Dell last week, and I went there today to
tweak it and get it ready for her to use. Apparently, the guy she
bought it from never met a peice of spyware, adware, or malware he
didn't like. This thing was a cesspool of virtual infections.

I managed to clean everything off except the IBIS toolbar. I'm
headed back there next month to finish what I started. I need some
advice on getting rid of that one. I didn't feel comfortable trying
to remove it manually. It's a tough SOB to clean.

The system has XP-Home on it and I need to finish removing the
previous owner as "User". I don't have XP, so I need advice on
changing that as well.

TIA

dunric@yahoo.com was cut from the Baylor football team for saying...
The IBIS toolbar can be removed manually without problems.

Bill, I think I can help you. However, when I tried to email you (by
removing what I THOUGHT was your spam-filter), the email bounced.

Email me and I'll get the info to you.

The tough ones usually require a combination of manual removal and
running different anti-spyware tools.
