Where were you...when the Mountain Blew...

Charles Beauchamp 19 May 2005 08:14:25
so 25 years ago this morning I was in the kitchen dinking around getting
some cereal. My mom was up. I heard a bang and an echo like a car
backfiring down the street only..like louder. Mom said what was that? I
went outside and looked right down the street..nothing..looked left and was
totally surprised as a giant black cloud was spewing into the distant sky
where Mt. St. Helens had previously been visible...oh about 130 miles away.

Wasn't but minutes later before the phone started ringing constantly as
every relative on the planet was calling sure that we were dead and buried.
Truth is we watched it on television. It was just an amazingly beautiful
clear blue sky spring Sunday...least in Western Washington. Eastern side of
the mountains parts had streetlights on at noon. Sucked to be them.
