Only in Japan

James Schrumpf 25 April 2005 20:16:33
A commuter train jumped the tracks on a curve and slammed into a building,
killing 57 people (so far). The suspected reason: the young operator was
speeding to try to make up for lost time -- the train was running two
minutes late.

In America, you're happy if the train departs its origin less than two
minutes late, much less expect it to be on time a hundred miles up the
line.

Thus the cost of high expectations.

Well, look. I mean, is he gonna be able to chase us? Cause if I woke up
lookin' like that, I would just run towards the nearest living thing and
kill it.

You'd be lucky to find 57 people *on* a train in the US. (Metro area
commuter trains excepted.)

How do you prefer your martini, Mr. Ike <Ike@SHAEF.NET>? Shaken, or
stirred?

What do you think that train was?
