From the angle of a great team bball player and exceptional talent
having his career completely devastated by injuries, yup. I think Grant
was more of a scorer, while Manning was more in the Bird/Magic mold
(although maybe not quite capable of the Bird/Magic level of play --
hard to say for certain since he blew out his first knee so early in his
career).

Well, I have never seen them in the same room together, but they definately
don't look alike.

I would say no.

I asked Bobby Dylan, I asked the Beatles, I asked Jason Arndt

In the open court, the college version of Danny Manning is still the
best big man I've ever seen. Great handle, great court vision, great
passer, dependable shot out to about 17 feet.

After the second knee surgery, not so much. Which is a tragedy.

Hill is a better inside scorer, and a more physical rebounder. And he
had enough great seasons before the injuries that he will be better
remembered.

Agreed. Granted, I don't follow the NBA all that closely, but I have
virtually no image of Manning as a pro player. It also might have something
to do with the fact that I went to the same high school as Grant Hill, so I
have paid a bit more attention to his professional career.

The poor guy had to spend a majority of his best years in the nba on
the roster of the Clippers. Hell, even in metro-Los Angeles it isn't
easy to find a Clipps game televised.

Manning was still fun to watch when he played with the Suns, the
post-Chas Barkley seasons. But as someone noted, he didn't accelerate
and move so well at times.
