Well, wish me luck. I've volunteered to help move a 26' Chris Craft sailboat on Wednesday morning from Annapolis up the Chesapeake Bay to the Inner Harbor of Baltimore. We're motoring all the way, but even so, it should be interesting going up one of the busiest commercial waterways in the East, if not in the US.
Here's a link to a chart with our (projected) course in red. We start at the bottom in Whitehall Creek, out and around Hackett Point, and northward under the Bay Bridge spans following the Craighill Channel (I imagine we'll keep to the extreme left side, but I'm just guessing at this point) until we enter the Patapsco River and follow the Brewerton Channel into the Inner Harbor.
Projected motoring time is approximately 4 hours from slip to slip; we're supposed to leave at 1100, so hopefully we'll be at the dock around 1500. Weather is predicted to be partly cloudy, winds 5-10 kt., waves about 1 ft, and air temps in the high 60s. Water temps are around 43F.

I used to sail with a guy who's a school teacher here. In the summer he does boat deliveries, mostly to and from Hawaii. He usually does the Victoria-Maui race, then brings the boat back.

Yeah, James Schrumpf <jaspammenotschrumpf@adelphia.nospamnet>, well... that's just like... your opinion man.

When you transit the Turkish Straits (Dardanelles/Bosporus) in a 10,000 ton cruiser, come call me.

Yes, the irony of it all.
I suppose though, that they'd like to get the boat there at close to a given time. I'll take what time on the water I can get.

PS How do you fold that chart? >
Winds are only supposed to be 5-10 Kt from the East. That would be a good direction for us, though -- it'd be on the beam pretty much the whole trip up the Bay, and then a following wind into the Inner Harbor.
I don't think there's any option to raise the sails, however. I might be wrong, but the email specified "motoring."
