Michigan folks - is Max Martin all that? And what about incoming Grady? Are
they seriously good enough to push Hart?

Oklahomans - any change upcoming in offensive style? Still going to fling it
all over the place - or with a new qb and APete, ya gonna run the damb thang
like you used to?

Notre Damers - you know - you've been awfully, awfully quiet. Suspiciously so.
New coach and all and nary a peep? What should we fear?

State of Florida types - A) Leak and Meyer - fun in the sun? B) Which way
will the kick be wide this year? C) Hearing rumblings that Miami might be
reallllllly talented, but need a qb. Didn't we just like spend a couple years
going down this road?

Huskerfolk - does anyone have an incriminating photos of CoachBill so we can
force him to get LUCKY?????

U$C - where would you like us to mail yer next trophy?

Washington - Bounceyball's in like what, another 6 months or so?

Louisville - welcome to the AAA league. Stepping up or stepping down?

This year's Utah/Boise State team? I'm thinking Fresno State....have you seen
Boise's schedule?

Illinois or Indiana - which will be more improved?

Deer Tennessee - I keep reading about how you're a lock for the top 5....care to
explain why and why I should believe it? 'specially since there are like 8
teams favored to win the SEC this year.....

Iowa a top 2/possible MNC pick? What hath Ferentz wrought?

Since the Big East pretty much tore up the old ACC last year, will we see more
of the same?

Texath at tOSU - I'll be watching too.....

Am I wrong to hope that Prilloux, the qb recruit at LSU, pretty much pulls a
Powlus?

Is there a hotter coaching seat than that of Callahan?

Oh - Omar Jacobs for hypesman!11!!!

Don't look for it from the Hokies this year. I'm already on the

In the few appearances he had last year, I thought Martin looked pretty
promising. Seemed to move pretty strong to the hole and could cut well.
But there was this other kid ahead of him on the depth chart, so he
didnt get enough attempts to really tell....

Neither. When they play the field will collapse into some sort of space-
time continuum. Neither institution will ever dare field a football team
again. In the case of Indiana, the Usenet Oracle (oracle@cs.indiana.edu)
will entertain the homecoming crowds with displays of prestidigitation and
mentalism. At Illinois, they'll just stage rumbles between the North Side
and South Side Chicago mobs.

Not possible unless two Big Ten teams are playing for the MNC because
Michigan is going to roll this year.

Who's going to be throwing balls to those WRs this year?

Randall's accuracy wasn't all that last year, and one assumes he was the
best they had; so who's the new hope?

Sean Glennon. He's actually still listed as the #1 QB with Marcus
serving parole at #3.

It wasn't Randall's talent that kept him in the job. It was all
those intangibles people talk about.

Notre Damers - you know - you've been awfully, awfully quiet. Suspiciously so. > New coach and all and nary a peep? What should we fear?

The one thing I'm really glad to see is Rick Minter coming back to take
over the defense. Last time he showed up, there was a TD/game difference
in points allowed from the previous year. If someone can teach some of
the corners how to cover (and I think our secondary coach had the same
position last year with the Dolphins, so he probably knows something
about covering receivers), he may just be able to do it again. As for
the offense, at least I won't be calling the plays from the couch. Well,
I'll still do that, but I'll at least be wrong sometimes.
Am I wrong to hope that Prilloux, the qb recruit at LSU, pretty much pulls a> Powlus?

Funny thing about Powlus- he was probably about a third round draft pick
had he not stayed the extra year under Davie. Hell, his senior year we
averaged 37 points a game. Just the defense was always weak when he was
playing. Oh, and the injuries I think threw him off(and I have heard the
same from some of the players who used to live in my dorm. Apparently,
he was never as good as he was in practice in '93 again.)

You'd think that UM and/or FSU could have come up with better QBs in the
past 2 years.
Louisville - welcome to the AAA league. Stepping up or stepping down?

I think they're here to stay...until their coach heads off to the NFL.

It's the LSUification of UT.

I'm interested to see how Leak and the offense adapt to Coach Meyer's
offense. Leak is as talented as the hype says, but I wanna see how smart he
is. Can he adapt to a different offense quickly? This could be a big "Return
to Glory" type year for Florida, or it could be more of the same but with
more promise for the future. I have a lot of faith with Meyer and am going
to give him plenty of leeway, something I didn't have with the Zooker.

Given that La. Tech is on the schedule, I'm afraid it's more likely to run
the "return to glory" route. We seem to be good at bringing that out in
people lately.

Seriously, there are very pretty deep Miami of Ohio roots at both
schools. The Illinois coaching staff looks like a Mallory
family reunion. Zook played for Bill at MoO.

I think Grady is a more serious threat than Martin, but at this point I
still think Hart will get the bulk of the work.

There's no way Grady will beat out Hart. Lloyd would never trust a true
freshman to start at RB....

I was going to agree, but looking at the numbers, that's not so much
true. Outside of TD's between the first two years, every measurable
thing went up. And as a team, points per game went way up from '94 to
'95. Interceptions dropped every year (until Davie took the head
coaching position and Coletto showed up to run the "offense"). Staying
that fifth year was a huge mistake in retrospect. Interception
percentage went back up, yards/attempt went way down, TD's went way down,
and that year, thanks to poor line play(Joe Moore was too old to coach
anymore, remember), he was back into negative net "rushing" yards.
