Nowadays some people make their own rules and it encourages others to do the same. Ignoring posts in which you have no interest is a lot smarter than filtering them - everyone says something worth reading some time.
One must adopt the attitude that all is a game of one-upmanship - you win some and you lose some. RSFC is not about reality, it's about a few moments diversion each day.
Besides, right or wrong, I get the sense that very few here have really accomplished anything with their lives at work, at home or in any leadership position. Most appear to be living from day to day with little future. But they get off some great one-liners.

You and I have different definitions of "slumming", I do believe. I don't go "slumming" in a place I frequent - it carries a connotation of infrequency. In addition, I wouldn't go to a place I considered a "slum" on a daily basis - particularly by "choice". However, if one considers himself a denizen of the "slums", then I can see where it might be an occurence of high frequency.

I don't know anything about inner city schools except as reported by the media. If you visited AL, AL would be slumming.
