Soft drinks get a bad rep some time. It's not bad at all for 10-15% of> your calories to come from simple carbs. That's between 200 and 300> calories a day, or 1-2 12 oz. drinks. If you aren't getting simple> carbs from another source, I would tell people to go for it.
Very, very bad for your teeth, though. It's not the sugar so much, but the acid that does it. Recent studies have shown that not only did diet soda not decrease the risk of tooth decay (over regular soda), but in some cases, diet sodas were actually worse. It's the acid. Get off the carbonation, or find stuff that's less carbonated. Better all around.

I have been drinking Fruit2O lately. It is basically flavored water with Splenda for sweetening. It has no fizz and no calories. I have been drinking this because drinking water is good for you and I hate water. But I do like this stuff - especially really cold.

I found I was drinking soda instead of eating. I'd forget to pack a lunch so I'd drink 2 sodas for lunch. Then, before I knew it. I'd gone from a loose 34 to tight 36. Not good.

The problem is that the sugar (and caffiene) increase the appetite and hamper the metabolism.

I'll take a look at that - I don't like water either and I drink at least three diet drinks per day.

Or, you know, brush your teeth.
Brushing your teeth doesn't do anything for the acid that's in contact with your teeth while you're swishing around a mouthful of acid.

One a day would entail only 200 calories. Hard to believe that made much of a difference. Did you start walking a little more or something about the same time?

Alas. I checked today again. Net loss: 2 lbs.
Note to self: check your weight at the same time each day.
