The first rock album I ever listened to was "Soft Parade"

And that album was released in 1969. Now, I turned 12 in March of 1968; so it's completely possible that I heard this album in the year it came out before I turned 13. The weird thing is that my friend that played it for me was five months younger than me, and didn't have any older siblings; and there's no way his parents were hip enough to buy this album.
Therefore, my friend Jay was _even weirder than I thought at the time_; which is a wonderful thing, if you think of it.

The first rock album I ever listened to was either Rush: Moving> Pictures, or Judas Priest: Screaming for Vengeance (bought by my older> brothers, when I was about 6-7, in the early eighties).>
Oddly enough, as of today, I own a legitimate CD of the latter, and a> 20 year old dub of the former on a 90 minute TDK blank tape. The back> side of which contains an album which I cannot remember. Neither has> been in my stereo in at least 5 years.>
Plug them in and see where your head was a few years ago.
It's funny that after all these years, what I was remembering the most was the song "The Soft Parade":
"YOU CANNOT PETITION THE LORD WITH PRAYER!!!!!!!111!!11!!"

Styx: Paradise Theater.
God save my poor benighted soul. It's my parents' fault.
The first rock album I ever listened to was something by Ricky Nelson. My oldest sister (4 years older) had a crush on him. I think it had such all-time hits as "My Bucket's Got a Hole in It."

He had some great songs. I remember getting laid to several of them. "Travelin Man", Hello Mary Lou, Unchained Melody and Young Emotions come to mind as instant WoodMasters(tm) songs;

for me: "Sabbath Bloody Sabbath" by (of course) Black Sabbath>
My _second_ album was "Black Sabbath".
Hmmm... "Soft Parade"... "Black Sabbath"... I sure was pointed down a strange road back then.
