Thanks be for my son!

James Schrumpf 5 March 2005 07:05:32
My wife, watching TV, started abusing Steve Fossett for being a "poor
little rich boy" with nothing better to do than flying solo around the
world without refuling. I wasted a couple of minutes pointing out that
this didn't make him any different from Neil Armstrong, Charles Lindbergh
or Christopher Columbus, but she was still insistent.

Imagine my GLEE! when my 17-year-old picked up the logical side and began
accusing his mom of "hating Fossett just because he was rich." It went
back and forth for a few minutes until she backed off in the face of his
innocent defense of a true explorer.

We all live for moments like this from our kids...

Well, look. I mean, is he gonna be able to chase us? Cause if I woke up
lookin' like that, I would just run towards the nearest living thing and
kill it.

My son, while I was cueing up MVP Baseball 2005: "EA SPORTS! IT'S IN DA
GAME!"

(I let him "play".. with a controller that isn't actually hooked up.. he
helps me out quite a bit. Heh.)

:
:Yeah, but yer kids think VT football is cool, so we know they're just
:brainwashed is all. Especially if they think playing with a disconnected
:controller is fun.
:
:Though actually, I suppose that kind of thinking explains how some
:VTechsters think that y'all were actually _in_ that game against FSU.

You are a crool, crool man, James Edward Schrumpf.

Right, the Voyager was a prop plane. So? They had to stay up and awake
longer (although if I understand correctly, Jeana Yeager did most of the
staying awake -- Rutan wasn't in good shape by the end).

Well, I guess these things matter in aviation records; first prop plane,
first jet, first solo -- they keep track of 'em all.

It's how the technology gets pushed further, I suppose -- kinda like
NASCAR.
