[ot] Miracle on Ice

Sxf 23 February 2005 09:24:20
So I'm watching this original broadcast, and it amazes me to see
Tretiak giving up that goal at the end of the first period to Johnson.
He barely reacts to Johnson's move until the puck is past him.

Might be one of the biggest brain lapses I have ever seen in sports.
Seriously. Right up there with Fred Brown, basically.

And then the Soviet coach piles on by pulling him out of goal for the
next 2 periods.

I'm way to distracted by the big blue spots on the ice. I've played on
some crappy rinks where the puck gets lost visually in the nasty colored
ice (actually all the patches in the concrete underneath) but sheesh!

Yeah, I noticed that, too. I mean, it looks like Stanley Cup playoffs
in Dallas.

It's really cool. Looks like a traffic barrel with a fruit bowl on top but
in silver.

They used to award it to the best pro hawky team back when that sport was
played professionally.
