(CP) - The B.C. Lions signed offensive guard Sherko Haji-Rasouli and long snapper Bill Chamberlain Thursday. Terms of the deals were not disclosed.
''Sherko is a good, young player that we believe has a great future in the CFL,'' Wally Buono, the Lions coach and general manager, said in a release.
''His size and skill will definitely be an asset for our team.''
Haji-Rasouli, six-foot-six and 326 pounds, played 13 games for the Montreal Alouettes last season. He was taken in the second round, 12th overall, of the 2002 CFL Canadian college draft. The 25-year-old was born in Iran but now lives in Toronto.
A finance major at Miami, Haji-Rasouli was a standout player at his position. In 2002, he was selected to the first team All-Big East Conference by the league's coaches after registering 38 blocks.
Chamberlain rejoined the Lions after spending a season with the Calgary Stampeders.
The 27-year-old Victoria native, who attended the University of B.C., spent one season with the Lions in 2003, registering four special teams tackles after signing with the team as a free agent.
