I invested in a nice posthole digger, because who knows when you're

I dug down 30 inches. The first six to eight were topsoil. The rest

Yuck.
Hartland was that way sorta... except at my house there, the rocks started at the top...
Seems when they put in the Subdivision, they uhm took the top soil with them first, then sold the land... ---

I got my son (years ago) the one of the free-standing ones
but with a nice, solid base.
Five years from now when he finishes college and enters The
Real World, I can just sell it or throw it away.
Mine was on an oak tree. The roots made for a nice ball return
and you could run up the trunk for the dunk.
Sounds like the opening scenes to "Hoosiers".
Like a single data point in the socioecon theory about basketball. Suburban and rural kids learn the jumpshot but can't go to the hole because the backboard is on the garage/tree and the ground isn't level. Urban kids got all the moves but no outside shot because they play on the playground but have no nets on the rim.
I was sweet from 20 ft but had the ugliest baseline move you can imagine. The guys I played with even called it "The Ugly".
