I have found that if you park as far away as you are willing to walk in the direction that you are leaving, you can get away from the bulk of the traffic faster, & be on your way quicker. Not only that, the parking is less expensive the further away you park. We park about two miles away from the track, and if you are willing to trade walking for sitting in your car idling going nowhere, you will find that the time passes in a less frustrating manner...but that's just me... Remember that getting to the track (any track) is always easier than getting away from the track. If you are willing to tailgate for 3 hours after the race the point becomes moot since much of the traffic will have already left by then.
