Pontoon Beach, IL (April 24, 2005) A huge field of 152 racecars signed in to compete on a very cool evening at the Tri-City Speedway presented by the Missouri/Illinois Dodge Dealers.
Michael Kloos of Trenton, IL bested a stellar field of thirty-six UMP (United Midwestern Promoters) Late Models. Kloos started on the outside of the front row, but pole sitter Rodney Melvin took the lead on the opening lap. Randy Korte quickly moved past Kloos and took over the second position. Kloos kept it a three-way battle for the lead and soon found his way past Korte and Melvin to assume the lead. Korte would move past Melvin and take over the second spot on lap eight. Korte, Kloos and Melvin would continue to trade the lead for the first half of the race.
