What Now...Nascar

Tonys 21 March 2005 02:23:37
With Jr finishing 25th...and way down in the points...What rules will NASCAR
have to change to get JR back in the top 10 for the chase?

Will they just expand the chase to include JR no matter how far he is
behind and whoever is above him in points....instead of the top ten it could
be the top 30 in points in the chase...

stinky bait. If NASCAR was favoring Jr so much, why did they call him for
speeding on pit road?

he only has to stay within 400 points.

Because it is electronic now, they used to pick out certain drivers to
check, and now EVERYONE gets
checked whether they like it or not.

And if you've been reading the news lately you'd know the drivers think it's
just as arbitrary as ever because NASCAR refuses to show the speeds in real
time.
"Friday, Robin Pemberton, NASCARÂ’s vice president of competition, said there
was "no reason" for teams to be able to see speeds of cars on pit road as it
happens.

NASCAR has typically offered to tell violating teams their speeds after the
race."

Why NASCAR refuses to let cars have speedometers is beyond me. I guess that
makes it too easy for drivers to keep track.

i've heard it said that NASCAR believes that speedo's aren't reliable enough
to use in the cars. i bet the 88 team wishes they had one yesterday instead
of using the tach that gave them the wrong reading.

Since every team knows their tire diameter and gear ratio, they should be
able to pre-determine a very close RPM to match the pit road speed. Then
that can be verified when running behind the pace car.

A very sad thing. But other drivers were able to stay within speed limits,
and Jarrett 'should' have been able to do so as well. He's experienced n
all.
(I am a Jarrett fan, and was heartsick over it. But it was driver error,
plain and simple)

I couldn't believe he was whining after the race about "kicking a guy
when he's down." LOL. Give me a break. He's finding out how the
other drivers live every week.
