That Loudon looks like a challenging track for the drivers to hustle around without clipping the wall. Maybe there is something to that short track racing after all.
There used to be some spirited racing at Darlington twice a year but then NASCAR in its wisdom thought that the sleeper track at Fontana fit into their demographics better. Sometimes you have to wonder if NASCAR is always right all the time.

I had season tickets at the Milwaukee Mile for many years in the 70s. It is much like Loudon in many ways. It is a bit wider on the straights but still offers great racing. Stock cars are always a lot of fun to watch on short, flat tracks. The better drivers do come to the top since raw HP is not the top priority on these tracks. I still like Darlington though. It is another driver's track. Fontana, MIS, Vegas, KC and Chicago are all HP and aero tracks. When you listen to the scanners on those tracks, all you hear is "I have a bad push" from the drivers in the pack.
