He did do a great job. Made a great start to the year and was consistent throughout. He is clearly able to cope with any pressure thrown at him and is a worthy champion.

what pressure? to come in 3rd every race in the second part of the season?...surely you dont mean pressure from fisichella, bar, ferrari or toyota?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but there was a fellow named Keke Rosberg who also became world champ without winning a single race.

what pressure? to come in 3rd every race in the second part of the>season?...surely you dont mean pressure from fisichella, bar, ferrari or>toyota?
The pressure of maintaining that third place week in week out, knowing he had little chance of another win after his great run at the start of the season and knowing that any failure to finish third would screw his chances. The pressure to deliver a flawless performance in race and qualifying every single time.
And he did it. A worthy champion indeed. -- Richard Miller

Yep, Alonso thoroughly deserves the DWC. It's great to have a clean, honest holder once again. The last two races should be pretty good, too, with McLaren having everything to race for in the WCC, JPM and Kimi on top form and Flav having to back *both* of his drivers to keep McLaren behind.

fisi was another renault test driver (failures speak for themselves) and klien passed him to unlap himself, which is even worse...and as far as alonso's fight for position, he lost pretty much all of them to mclarens

The points structure didnt save the driver. A fantastic start to season, and McLarens run of bad lack was the deciding factors in the WDC. It's motorsport you have to have the talent and the car underneath to you win.
whats the old saying - "To finish first, first you have to finish" something McLaren should have listend to when building this years car
