Runner-Ups & Lucky Dogs

Crusader 12 April 2005 04:15:29
The talking heads continue to make a big deal out of Kasey Kahne's
5 runner-up finishes in '04, but neglect to point out that
JJ & MM also had 5 runner-up finishes. In '05 JJ has 2 to KK's one.

Is anyone else getting a little tired of hearing every week
about KK's potential to be the next driver to get a win?

Maybe The Media is applying so much pressure on KK
to be the next JG or JJ or RN, that KK chokes?
Did the media do the same thing to Jamie McMurray after winning
in his 2nd Cup race in '02 & since then is 0fer82? Is Carl choking now?

Lucky Dogs
I'd be willing to bet that for the 1st time EVER, JG-JJ-RN all
got a Lucky Dog in the same race. RN & JJ even got 2LDs each!
It's about time my 3 favs got consideration for what other drivers
do to them.

Do you recall when Rusty was coming up, and we had about 3 years
worth of "due for his first win" talk? Seems to me Rusty must
have had over 100 starts before he won. I can have patience with
them saying things about Kasey for a while yet.

Dear Mr. Cru,

Any idea what is the record for most second place finishes before a driver
gets his first win? Who's got the bride's maid award?

But that's DRAMA! (And I hate contrived, driven into the ground drama.)

Yeah, but wasn't last year KK's rookie season? I think that
accounts for some of the attention he got.

It would be his FIRST win in Cup. I think that explains
it. If some of the other 2004 or 2005 rookies get hot,
the KK story will probably get knocked off the front
page.

I didn't see any updates on Crusader's Corner. Are
you done with that gig? Just cru-rious.

Hey DRAMA is only on TNT!
I have no idea how one could find the Bride's Maid stat
without a huge archeological dig. Too deep fer me.

Like Carl Edward's 1st WINS? Then reality sat in at shortrax, eh?

Cru's Corner Updates will start appearing soon, like right after TX.
Most of those 'studies' haven't needed any updates cuz we haven't
started going to the 2nd races at trax yet, & no driver has added
to fantastic records in awhile.
Cru-tired?

Like Carl Edward's 1st WINS?

He won too soon to replace KK as the bridesmaid. :o)

Yup. Here's a stat you can attack: is it harder for
a young driver to win on the short tracks? Do most
drivers who win at them already have a lot of wins
elsewhere under the belts?

I see. You're letting the data ac-cru-mulate.
