I hate the night races cause I can't see them. The only good thing is I record them and don't have to set through the dumb commercials!! Race is a lot shorter that way too. I have to be careful the next day that I don't see the results on the news, etc.!

I get a kick of how the cars look under the lights.
What I hate is that there's nothing to watch on Sunday afternoon. :o(

Once or twice a year would be plenty of that, tho.

Yeah, that's one of my objections. I basically have three reasons I dislike night races:
1) they tend to end too late. Even without any disruption to the planned sequence, they often end near midnight. A long cleanup after an accident can easily put it into the AM hours. Whereas I pretty much loose interest after 11PM, and want to go to bed.
2) I have other things I'd like to do on a Sat evening. There are more desirable things than sitting in front of a TV to do on Fri & Sat nights.
3) I have free time in the middle of my "day of rest" when I'd like to chill out in front of the TV. (*)
Add to that the disastrous effect they've had on the nations short tracks, and there's little reason to cheer for the night races.

I don't think there's a fix for that, given the three hour time difference. That's actually easier to do with afternoon races than with evening races: while I can understand a Californian saying "can't we have a four hour race from time to time that starts at 7 pm for us?", it obviously doesn't fly for a major race with no excessive delays to be *planned* to end at 2 am in North Carolina........

They don't seem to end all that late here (unless there's an accident or
something...) My complaint is that they START TOO EARLY -- 5 o'clock is
still "late afternoon" here for a Saturday. We might still be mowing
the yard, or relaxing in the pool after a hard day mowing the yard...

Yeah, but I'm in the central time zone, so a race starting at 5 here means it started at 6 on the east coast and it started at 3(!) on the west coast. They can't move it one hour to start at 7? That would put it ending at midnight for the east coast. That's not THAT bad -- in fact, no worse that many evening baseball, football, basketball, or hockey games....and those happen EVERY WEEK!

Starting @ 7 wouldn't bother me (modulo my general dislike of night races). It's the ones where the "start" is at 8, and they actually get done with the BS & drop the green at 8:30, that annoy me. Even a 400 lap/mile race is hard to finish before midnight when they don't start till after 8.
