One thing you must get a grasp of ......... "STANDARD of living does not
equate to QUALITY of living". America has set the STANDARD threshold to an
unsustainable level (on a National level - not to be confused with
individual level - and the old saying, "keeping up with the Jones' is
inducing a debt load which is ultimately a melt_down fuse.

There should be a 100% tariff at the border and coast for everything that
is imported paid directly to the Feds to reduce the national debt

Surely you jest. ARe you suggesting the Feds are sufficiently accountable to
priortize National debt reduction atop fueling and equipping the Big Green
machine ?

Anybody who believes that canard about "jobs that Americans are not
willing to do" is insane. Do you want to throw other peoples' garbage
into a garbage truck for eight hours a day? The reason that Americans do
it is because they are getting paid a fair wage to do it. Do you want to
work in <bad word> sewers all day? The reason that Americans do it is
because they are getting paid a fair wage to do it. Do you want to drive
a city bus in heavy traffic for eight hours a day? The reason that
Americans do it is because they are getting paid a fair wage to do it.

Hang on ............. you opened and then closed with an oxymoron. There ARE
jobs that Americans are not willing to take because they are NOT being paid
an adequate wage. No one said everything has to be fair. Fair has nothing to
do with it. If you can't compensate the local grocer, then inadequate
compensation is likely the culprit ............ but there are no economic
mandates which declare it must be "fair" (they've tried many a time by
setting minimum wage rates .............. and accomplish nothing).

We are cutting down our redwoods on the West Coast and shipping the timber
to China where the 20 cent per hour slave labor is turning them into patio
furniture that is in turned shipped back to WalMart and Costco. There is
nothing wrong with importing and exporting but there is something wrong
with importing and exporting the exact same thing just to take advantage
of slave labor at a considerable cost to the environment in terms of that
14,000 miles of needless shipping.

pfffft .... Buddy ... they been doin' it for hundreds of years. The big
difference is that they literally used to bring the 'slave labor' here to do
the work .............. war changed that - and damned righfully so (speaking
of what's fair and what's not fair) ............. so now they take the work
to the slave labor. It's disgraceful. Lucrative ... but disgraceful.
Somebody with public relationship skills needs to start some sort of
"Employ Americans" movement so that the goods and services that are
consumed in America are more likely to be provided by native born
Americans.

You've made considerable effort here to express your disdain with pricing
.............. and now you're suggesting this !?

And the Feds need to slap a 100% tariff on anything that is imported in
America that could have otherwise been made in America.

And you're complaining about current fuel prices and now making the above
suggestion ????

That would not
apply to a Ferrari because a Ferrari has to be made at the official
Ferrari factory. But it would apply to a GM or Ford or Dodge vehicle that
was made outside of the U.S when their are factories being closed right
here.
We let the textile industry go and nobody cared because they were not in
the textile industry. We let the steel industry go and nobody cared
because they were not in the steel industry. We let the manufacturing
industry go and nobody cared because they were not in the manufacturing
industry.
When our regions are filled with abandoned houses and unemployed people
and derelict factories that used to make things we still buy every day
perhaps somebody will start to care.

yup .............. at that point somebody (enough somebodies is what is
crucial) WILL not only care - but act !
