Back off on the starting fluid, it is too dry.
Or if you must use it, put some oil in the cylinders first.

Since you've done the carb, that leaves the fuel pump.
You can connect the carb fuel line to a marine tank and feed the engine with
the primer bulb. If this works,... it's your fuel pump that is either full
of dirt/varnish or has a bad diaphram.

There may be ice or water in the low parts of the fuel line/pump.

removed and sterilized the carb,

Serious question - How, did you *DO* this?

Did you COMPLETELY disassemble the carb,
and soak it?

I am not sure what the issue is with the skis as with your boot-binding
setup I would think you would have good support and control...?
I also found I can't do a snowplow at all except when almost coming to a
stop, the> rollerski is just too twitchy. Started down a decline at a little> faster than normal skating speed just gliding and my right ski kept> trying to arc into my left ski. Ended up flying into the grass and> wiping out.

I would practice this at VERY SLOW SPEEDS to begin, but instead of trying
to push the wheels sideways (which is possible on a number of rollskis)
try pushing on them sideways (in a snowplow) and as they come together,
lift one up and set it back out to the side... kind of like you see
speedskaters do who are slowing and do not want to dull their edges.

As far as wiping out- having been rollskiing for about 29 years now...
good idea looking for grass but you have to go into a deep telemark
position with your weight on the back ski... the front leg is just out
there as a "pontoon/outrigger" to keep you from doing a face plant.
Again, practice this a lower speeds to start- and be aware that the sand
between the pavement and grass is often VERY soft!!

Good luck, keep the rubber side down:)

School's closed tomorrow for the kids because of the weather (WTF??).

Since today is my younger son's birthday, the wife - in a moment of
sheer lunacy - agreed to let him invite a bunch of his pals over for a
sleepover. Right now I have in the house 8 boys between ages 12 and 15
and the basement looks like it was struck by a tornado - the big hole in
the wall was apparently a result of an indoor football game. They have
since consumed an obscene amount of pizza and coke, and are currently
taking a breather while flicking channels between "24" and the
Syracuse/UConn basketball game.

I have to get to work early tomorrow and I am trying to figure out what
I need to do to make it through the night safely.

Please advise.

P.S. I have fortified myself with some Finlandia and OJ.

You ain't seen nothing until your kids have a LAN party. That's were a
bunch of game geeks fill your basement with computer hardware and Cat-5
cables to build their own network for all-night gaming.

It's not usually violent, but the BTUs generated from all those electronics
would heat the Super Dome and OSHA would have a nervous breakdown from all
the strung wiring.

Feel The Light 22 March 2007 22:54:32 permanent link ]

Buy wrist wraps, they are cool to wear and you will have more fun
skidding your palms down the road. Find a long wall and climb on
holding the wall, and use it to steady as you get used to pedaling
along. A week of afternoons, and you will be able to ride along without
the wall.
Buy the best 20" uni you can afford. People argue constantly about
what the best is in each price range.
For learning they are all good. If short on cash, you can buy
something crap used for next to nothing. Then put a good seat on it. I
learned on a junker that I taped foam to the seat. For just learning
to ride around on, only seat comfort really matters. Any 20" will do
fine.
If cash isn't real short, the KH uni's are excellent value. It's
cheaper to buy the good one first rather then a 200$ and then a 500 $.
Still, finding a cheapo used one for 20$ or so is best. Then buy a
good one when you know what you want.
