Indy ticket location recommendation?

Howard Roark 8 March 2005 00:15:00
Looking for a recommendation for a good spot to view the US Grand Prix,
with an emphasis on photography. I'll be taking a pair of SLR's (one
film, one digital) and a couple of fast telephoto lenses.

Two thoughts I had were high in the NW Vista, or maybe the SW Vista. I'm
familiar with the NW Vista, but not the SW Vista. Is it any good? Also,
there is a SW Vista "deck" that is $150 per seat, compared to $75 for
the regular SW Vista. What exactly is the "deck"? Also, anyone ever sat
in the Paddock Penthouse "Press" seats. How is that.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Have a look at the google groups archives. This question gets asked about
2 times a week.

Plenty of answers there.

NW Vista might be good for photography if you have a long lens. It's a
pretty boring place to watch the race from, though. The SW Vista is
pretty good for getting a neck workout as you watch the cars whiz by, but
that's about it.

IMHO, the upper rows in sections H and J are the best locations, if
they're still available.

warm, dry even-
until you do a tribute champagne spray (substitute fave drink here!) at the
end...

chamionship?

Thanks for any suggestions.

A friend of mine who was at last year's GP suggests 1st turn - Stand H.
He adds "if not, then anywhere along pit straight if usually good
because you can see in the pits and there's TV monitors all over the place"
