 Track Speed Record Holder Bazemore Says New Record A Longshot

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (March 15, 2004) - Whit Bazemore, driver of the Matco
Tools Iron Eagle Dodge Stratus R/T Funny Car, went out on a limb last
year and predicted that the 330-mph Funny Car barrier would be broken at
the Gatornationals at Gainesville Raceway following re-paving of the

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (March 14, 2006) - When Whit Bazemore won his first event
of the 2005 NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series season in Gainesville last
year, he had just become the father of his first child the week before, and
he found himself gushing equally, it seemed, over his win and the birth of

 "It's a big race. It's an important race. It's important
for our team in the circumstances that we're in. We've got some
momentum, we're new to the class, I'm new to the team, and
we're fourth in the points. We want to expand on that. It's
important to get our first win in Top Fuel sooner rather than later to
prove that we belong here. To do that at Gainesville would be the perfect
scenario being it's one of my favorite races."
