Paul Tracy finally got an important career win at the Grand Prix of Cleveland on the oldest temporary road course, Burke Lakefront Airport in Cleveland, OH. In the early bit of the race Tracy used his "chrome horn" twice on his Forsythe Champcar putting him out of pit sequence. This eventually lead him into the position to end his 23 race winless streak that had spanned two seasons.
Rookie Robert Doornbos finished in a close second to Tracy. The pair both using the "push to pass" button on the final laps. Sadly for Doornbos the Minardi didn't have enough left to get Tracy in the end.
