FIA wants you to reinforce its own prejudices about F1, the agenda is
clear, they want 20+ races on Tilkedromes in tobacco-free non-European
countries. The question about which circuits you'd miss was interesting -
alas I could only tick Spa, Monza, Monaco and Suzuka.... the rest are
all pants.

Also there was no question on aerodynamic downforce, i.e. 'should it
be reduced?'. Apparently the 'billboards' are sacred.

They don't need to reduce the wing sizes to make a dramatic difference
to the downforce - they should ban diffusers, that would make the world
of difference. I wanted to see a question on whether they should ban
refuelling too, but it was missing. To be fair, if they want to know
what people on the internet think, they could just employ a couple of
people per language to go through all the webforums and usenet groups
and take a representative sample of the posts...

We don't count, Phil. We're not the target audience. F1 is nothing to do
with motorsport; F1 is entirely marketing-led. As long as you buy enough
merchandise and visit the sponsors' websites, everything's fine.

The five things about F1 that I'd get rid of:

- refuelling
- grooved tyres
- about 80% of the downforce (diffusers, winglets, bargeboards, ride
height)
- driver aids (TC, launch control, programmed starts, etc.)
- Tilkedromes

The interesting thing is some more recent fans *like* modern f1. An
ex-housemate of mine loves fuel stops (thinks "strategy" is fantastic,
has nothing against three-stop races) and Tilkedromes ("they're very
technical.... they promote close racing").

I don't necessarily want close racing or lots of overtaking. I want cars
that demand the best drivers in the world, race on the best circuits
in the world, and LOOK impressive whatever they're doing. Then again
I'm old-fashioned. I believe the term "Grand Prix" should *mean*
something, not be awarded to sprint races on fart-arsing identikit
clubbie circuits with bloated grandstands built to give dodgy third-world
regimes a bit of credibility. And of course to sell more cancer sticks.

OK, they've managed to produce some passable racing this season, but
after the tedium of the last few years, ANYTHING would be better.

Hum, the Dutch translation was which circuits you would not miss
(unless I misread it). Overall, the whole translation to Dutch was
*very* bad.

I should have done the English one :)

I guess you missed all the inherent bias in the questions
and the complete lack of ability to offer alternate options
or comments.

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving
safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in
sideways, chocolate in one hand, martini in the other, body thoroughly
used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO what a ride!!"
