I think if you look you will see BOTH cars having ALOT of tire smoke
coming from the rear tires. There could have been a high rev shut-off
that kicked in.

yes! they was so well synchronized, perhaps it's the drivers were the
automated components in the car that had the "software malfunction" as
was reported.
