Well, NA$CAR has suspended the Crew Chief for four weeks with probation till the
end of the calendar year...

...so, at least they think the owner is laying out a smoke screen, or more likely,
trying to build up stuff for a 'case' for his probable appeal. If he flat-out
lied about Inspectors being fired, the owner ain't making any friends down in
Daytona.

Speaking of which...Hmiel's 'Bird' penalty will *not* be appealed...

Did you see the program? The owner says they approached NASCAR with> the questionable carburetor before any track activity, and asked if it> would be acceptable. Whoa, if this is true there is no way the team should be penalized as if it
was "blatant". Penalty yes-perhaps a fine but not disqualifying!
