Tomas Scheckter blazed around the 1.5-mile Homestead-Miami Speedway to grab
the first 2005 Marlboro Pole Award at a speed of 215.115 miles per hour with
a one-lap time of 24.852 in his Panther Racing Pennzoil Dallara-Chevrolet.

Vitor Meira will slot second, 0.092-seconds off the pace of Scheckter; and
a mere 0.020-seconds in front of the pole winner's new teammate Tomas Enge.
