Friday

Only one Sunday ticket offer. Anyone else see a pattern here? Now, let's
see just what the freebies at an IRL event get you.

http://img160.exs.cx/img160/9893/marlborostpete1sd.jpg

Hmmmm, how many did Barry claim were there? Wonder just how many of those
were actually paid seats by the people who were sitting in them. Not only
was the red hat brigade there in full force, but check out the white hat
brigade as well.

Which says
"The first 15 residents who respond to planetkaizen@saatchila.com will
receive two (2) free 3-day general admission passes to the Long Beach Grand
Prix April 8-10, 2005. The following information is necessary to reserve the
tickets.."

That's actually pretty cool. Thanks for posting motor guy, and for the link,
David.
If I wash in California, that would have been awesome.

Notice how it is *15* x pairs of 3-day tickets? Not quite enough to fill a
grandstand, is it??

That actually is a very cool 'freebie' if you are lucky enough to get in on
it.
That's good promotion - it rewards people who are visiting the site (winners
will probably be regulars), and is 'exlusive' enough to make the winners
feel special, and the people who entered and didn't win envious.

Buy a $5.00 sandwich at 7-11 .. everyone & anyone can do that.. pfft.
Bridgestone will promote a buy four tires, get two Sunday, reserved seat> tickets promotion at all Bridgestone/Firestone tire locations in Southern> California.

Hmm.. not great to see absolute (raceday) giveaways, but a worthwhile
promotion - but again, 4x tires = $400+ purchase > $5.00 sandwich.
It's a nice bonus for customers who were planning to buy 4 tires anyhow, and
a good incentive to buy 4 Bridgestone/Firestone tires rather than 2, or
rather than some other brand. As for 7-11 sandwiches, it screams "COME AND
GET THEM.. WHY PAY REGULAR PRICE AT THE GATE?". Sad.

All the other ones - Friday and/or Saturday, not Sunday (like the Indy Car
freebies).

While I don't agree with giving tickets away, no purchase necessary (what
good does that do the business that is handing out the tickets?), Friday
freebies (and to a lesser extent Saturday tickets) are a good way of getting
people who otherwise might not be all that interested into the event to show
them what is going on. Hopefully they will like what they see and pay for a
Sunday raceday ticket.

The issue Champ Car fans have with the way Tony George & his cronies do
business is that they cheapen the sport for everyone. When there are an
abundance of freebies on offer, not only will any other event seem expensive
in comparison, but expectations and standards are lowered (& raised for the
paying events) because, hey you didn't pay so what right do you have to
complain, and hey something free could be mediocre but it was still better
than sitting at home and you can make the most out of it ($6 beers are not
so hard to swallow when you saved $100 at the gate).

Anyhow, I hope the promotions work and there are lots of paying customers on
Sunday!!

Don't worry about the free red hats. Go to lbgp.com and buy a block of
twenty LBGP
tickets while it's still a OWRS race.

Said by one of the 3 people in all of North America who really believes
that the IRL will usurp 22 years of Champ Car at Long Beach.

He must be hallucinating on Tony's Vision.
