I have a Mares M1 dive computer and I am trying to use the IRIS interface, which I have bought. My new computer does not have the serial (or parallel, whichever it is) port to attach the IRIS cable. Are there any adaptors out there to do this - for example USB to Serial/Parallel and anyone who has done it? Thanks. Stefano

Yes.
'USB Docking Station' would be something to look for... Single usb for the PC, Paralell, serial, PS2, lan, usb etc. output. Failing that, there are rs232-usb as well as paralell-usb cables out there.
Your local PC retailer will be able to help you, if you show them the cable.
Bear in mind that the software needs to be convinced to work with this set up.... You're need to be able to tell the software to go to com#5 or Paralell#2, as well as set up the required port to behave in such a way that this is possible.
Find out what ports the software is prepared to talk on, then go to the sales droid "I want this cable to connect to my PC via USB, so that a software that looks for it on port <x> or port <y> can talk to it" If he knows what he's on about, he can help you.
